What's New
What’s New is where your team announces what changed in the product — releases, improvements, and fixes — straight to your apps’ end users. It closes the loop: a suggestion becomes “Done”, and the community finds out it actually shipped.
Available on every plan, with no limit on the number of posts.
Creating a post
Section titled “Creating a post”- Go to What’s New in the sidebar and click New post
- If your team has more than one app, choose the App. With a single app, it’s already selected
- Fill in the Title and the Body (plain text)
- Choose the Type: Feature, Improvement, or Fix — one type per post
- Optional: under Linked suggestions, select one or more board suggestions this post is announcing
- Click Save to keep it as a draft, without publishing yet
Linking suggestions is optional, but it’s what connects the announcement to whoever asked for it: when the post is published, the author and voters of the linked suggestions get an email letting them know.
Publishing a post
Section titled “Publishing a post”A newly created post stays as a Draft — no one outside your team sees it. To make it public, open the post and click Publish.
When you publish:
- The post starts showing up on the public board (if the tab is enabled) and in the widget
- If it has linked suggestions, the author and every voter on those suggestions get an email about the news, once per post
- A post with no linked suggestions publishes normally, it just doesn’t generate any email
You can Unpublish a published post at any time — it disappears from the board and the widget, but stays editable. If you publish that same post again, the email is not sent again — the notice already went out the first time.
Editing the title, body, type, or linked suggestions works on drafts and already-published posts alike.
Where the post shows up
Section titled “Where the post shows up”- Dashboard: the What’s New list shows every post for your team, published and draft
- Public board: its own “What’s New” tab, next to the suggestions tab — see Turning on the tab in the public board
- Widget: a “What’s New” entry on the widget’s home screen, with an indicator for anyone who hasn’t seen the latest post — see Enabling it in the widget
Only published posts show up on the board and in the widget. Drafts stay visible only to your team, in the dashboard.
Turning on the tab in the public board
Section titled “Turning on the tab in the public board”The “What’s New” tab on the public board has its own toggle, independent from the toggle that turns on the suggestion board — you can enable one without the other.
- Go to Settings > General
- Enable the Enable What’s New tab toggle
- Optionally, set a custom Tab title (defaults to “What’s New” if left blank)
The What’s New tab uses the same app as the suggestion board (Board app), so you need to set up the public board at least once, even if you leave the suggestions tab turned off afterward.
Only admins or the team owner can turn this tab on or off.
Enabling it in the widget
Section titled “Enabling it in the widget”The “What’s New” entry in the widget is on by default and controlled per app, on the app’s edit page, Widget tab, in the modules section.
Even when it’s on, the entry only shows up in the widget once there’s at least one published post for that app — with no published posts, the widget doesn’t show the option.
When there’s a post newer than the last time someone opened “What’s New”, an indicator shows up next to the entry, flagging unseen news. It clears as soon as the person opens the feed.
Roles and permissions
Section titled “Roles and permissions”- Viewing posts (in the dashboard): any team member
- Creating, editing, deleting, and publishing posts: the Manager, Admin, or Owner role
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Public suggestion board — where to turn on the “What’s New” tab
- Widget customization — where to turn the “What’s New” entry on or off
